dbKoda hangs on splash screen

Hello,

after using the really great tool for quite a while without problems, i am no longer able to start it properly.

When i open the application, all i see ist the loading.svg.

I am using version 0.10.1 on Windows. The problems startet with version 0.9.x. I updated to 0.10.1 as i thought this might help, but it didn't.

I also renamed the stateStore.json as mentioned here: with no effects.

Do you have an idea, what could make it work again?

Thanks for giving us this feedback, I'm sorry you've run into this problem!

Based off your logs we're not 100% sure what it is yet, but we have a few ideas. If you could provide us with some or all of the following information it might help us diagnose the issue as quickly as possible and get you back to coding.


- Your OS Version and whether you have Administrator rights.


- The first time you encountered the problem, was it after an upgrade or a certain feature use?

- Are you behind a firewall / antivirus or corporate proxy?

- Any strange network configuration lately, like setting up a node proxy?

- You can also manually create a support bundle with relevant logs by following the steps listed here: https://dbkoda.useresponse.com/knowledge-base/article/how-do-i-generate-a-support-bundle this might contain some clues for us as well.

Hello Mike,

you just asked the right questions. It was a "proxy problem".

While trying to get the python pip install command running behind our corporate proxy, i set the environment variable "http_proxy". Unfortunately the python pip install still isn't running. Setting the variable didn't help in this case. But then i forgot about doing this. But This variable causes dbKoda to hang on splash screen.

I tried this a few times: without having the variable set, dbKoda is able to start, when set, it is not. Even in our company, where i am forced to use the proxy.

So now i am able to use dbKoda again. Thanks for your fast response!

Hey Beni,


Thats great to hear! Glad you could get it working. We've put a temporary work around into our next hotfix patch and I've added some tasks for our next release to add improved proxy support. I'll let you know when that release is avaliable :)
